SnippetSync-AI ("we," "our," or "the Service") is a productivity tool designed to help users type faster using text expansion. We take your privacy seriously. We operate on a "Local-First" architecture, meaning your personal snippets are stored on your device by default, and are only synced to our servers if you choose to use Cloud features.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Explicitly Provide
- User Account: When you sign in with Google, we collect your email address and profile picture to authenticate you and manage your cloud synchronization.
- Snippet Content: We process the text shortcuts ("triggers") and snippet content you create.
- Local Snippets: Stored entirely on your device's browser storage. We cannot access this data.
- Cloud Snippets: If you use "Cloud Sync" or "Community," encrypted copies of your snippets are stored in our secure database (Google Firebase).
B. Automatically Collected Usage Data
- Productivity Stats: We track local counters of how many times you use the extension (e.g., "150 characters saved"). This calculation happens on your device.
- License Validation: To verify Pro accounts, we may send a non-identifying hash of your license key to our payment providers (Lemon Squeezy).
2. How We Handle Your Data (Permissions)
The Chrome Web Store requires us to declare specific permissions. Here is exactly how we use them:
Read and change all your data on the websites you visit (<all_urls>):
- Why we need it: This is strictly required for the Text Expansion feature. The extension must monitor your keystrokes locally to detect when you type a trigger (e.g., /email) so it can instantly replace it with your snippet.
- Our Promise: We do NOT store, track, or transmit your browsing history, passwords, or page content. The text expansion logic runs entirely within your browser's memory.
Storage: Used to save your settings and snippets on your local device.
Identity: Used solely for "Sign in with Google" functionality.
3. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your data. We share data only with trusted infrastructure providers required to run the service:
- Google Firebase: Used for secure authentication and cloud database hosting. Read Google's Privacy Policy.
- Lemon Squeezy: Used to process payments and validate licenses. We do not store your credit card information; it is handled directly by these secure providers.
4. Community & Public Data
- Private by Default: All snippets you create are private unless you explicitly click the "Share to Community" button.
- Public Snippets: If you choose to publish a snippet to the Community, it becomes publicly accessible to other users. You can unpublish/delete these at any time.
5. AI Features (Gemini Nano)
- Local Processing: Our "Magic Rewrite" feature uses Chrome's built-in AI (Gemini Nano) which runs locally on your device.
- Privacy: The text you send to be rewritten is processed by your computer's CPU/GPU and is not sent to our servers or Google's cloud for training.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
- Control: You can delete any snippet at any time. Deleting a snippet in the extension removes it from your local device. Deleting it from the Community website removes it from our servers.
- Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data (including cloud snippets and profile information) instantly. Go to your Profile Page on our website, scroll to the "Danger Zone" at the bottom, and click "Delete Account". This action is irreversible.
7. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
